[WIP] The Pass (TA map)

Here is a map from TA, but I converted it to be for 4 players. It is also bigger than the previous version, that come in my map pack. It is 10x5 set in evergreen.

Please note, if you have downloaded this map earlier, there is a new zipped map now available.

This is a test version. If I get many players who like it, I will place the completed version, up for download once it is finished.

Enjoy :)

Dragon Fly|||Wow, that map is a classic. I remember it fondly.

Unfortunately, I'm not a huge fan of the narrow choke point maps in SupCom. They're fun in some situations, but most of them are all pretty similar too..

On the other hand, I'm glad that you only put a little bit of mass per side. Maybe you should add a bit more mass in the canyon, spaced out to encourage a tug-of-war type of contest?

With only 3 mexes it's not worth that much, but if there were 5-7 then it would encourage alot of early fights, and if there's not a huge amount of reclaimables then it'll keep it from turning into a turtle/tech fest.|||Looks very nice, any chance of having maps that the main resource would be reclaiming?|||I remember this map, nice one Dragon Fly!

Raiden2|||There at least one reclaim-only map in the community map pack.. just in case you haven't seen it.|||Thanks to Spooky I now have a better version 3 of this map. The number of mass points is now six, and in the middle there are two for the players who can take and hold them.

Now available in the vault! :)|||Man, I have three maps sitting unreleased on my HD and each of them is not as polished as the stuff you churn out on a weekly basis. How do you do this?

|||Easy, just sit on my rear in front of my monitor, and work on what I have in front of me. 99% of the time it is another map, just takes a few days. :D|||Dragon Fly|||There are some maps that are like that. Though even balanced maps can make unbalanced games. Just depends on the map setup. If your allies are not near you on a 3 vs 3 map, you can easily make it a 2 vs 4 game. :)|||I played a multi-player game on The Pass V3 today. All I can say is it needs a bit of a different strategy than most other maps. There is a great need for the use of transports, and air power needs to rule, to use them.

I got killed, quite fast. But I didn't have a hope of winning anyway. My ally got nuked, and I was in trouble before that ever even happen. This map rules, when it comes to rush maps, but it is hard getting any units through the passage way. Both sides send them and all that goes dies.

The only way to get an idea of how this map plays, is to play it, and I don't mean against AI.

Dragon Fly :D |||I can confirm that. It is quite easy to win against two Sorian AIx. The AI tends to have pathing issues when navigating the road to the enemy.

That being said, it was hilarious to let a czar strafe the bunched up units in the middle of the pass: >500 kills in no time.|||Looks like a UEF favored map|||The new version of The Pass works fine. So I see no reason why I can't let everyone try it.

Some marker changes, a slightly bigger middle where there were 2 mass points, and now there are 4. The AI will now build a small base in the middle, and a large base not far from the entrance.

If you want T4s on the map you will need to play with and against Sorians aix AI. Or Duncanes AI, it builds T4 units, no matter what size the map is, and it doesn't need to be aix to do so. Just let it get enough resources and you will find them building them.:)|||OppositeSavior
