Map Editor that works in Win 7 ?

[:1]I tried getting the map editor from the GPNet site to work but it always gives me this error.Image
I'm running Win 7 64bit and the only map editor that works is the Supreme Commander Editor made by Hazard...but this editor has a bad problem.
TEXTURES,DECALS & PROPS DON'T APPEAR
Image
The problem with this editor is that you can see what the texture looks like in the little left side window but when I try to apply it you only see blobs of color and not the exact texture being applied so you don't know how the map is going to look like until you start the game.
This is really messed up because you can't texture [or apply decals] exactly at what your looking at without having to save, start the game and check the map and then go back and reopen it to make any corrections.
This can take days doing it with this process which is really silly.
Unlike other editors like the editors for Generals,Sudden Strike,Earth 2150/60 & Orb where your basically working within the Map itself and seeing everything that your putting on it,this editor just shows a representation of the map and Trees & Rocks [props] just appear as dots rather that using the actual models.
Is there anyway to get either of these editors to work or work properly ?|||You are doing something wrong if you cant get GPG's map editor to work. It is far from perfect, however, beautiful balanced maps can easily be made using it. Read through the tutorials on this forum again if you are still having problems. I also use Win 7 64bit without problems.
Dont bother using Hazardx's editor it will give you more problems later on.|||Thanks Electro I do that this week .|||You need to put the editor to supreme commander folder. It does not work on forged alliance folder.
...\Supreme Commander\bin\Supcom Map Editor.exe|||Delete the Supcom Map editor... and read this out:~
viewtopic.php?t=52143&f=20#p905107
I hope it will help you.
---
Prince|||I did exactly what the link says and I still get the same error.
Even when I launch the editor from the GPGNet site it gives me the same error.
This is where the download from the site sent the files.
Image
Can you tell me what files should and what shouldn't be here ?
When you say to delete the supcom map editor, which one,the one from Hazard or the original one ?|||Delete ALL map editors what you have. Then Download the Official Map Editor from the vault (GPGnet) in the Supreme Commander Mode.
If you done that and you get the same error, your named .dll file is broken.
---
Prince|||I don't have a named .dll file anywhere on my machine.|||Hi,
The named .dll is MohoEngine.dll which you have in your bin folder but I don't believe this is the problem.
I recently received the same error message and a simple bit of patching to bring SupCom upto version 1.1.3280 was all it needed, this can be downloaded from the gpgnet website.
You will need to download the correct patch depending on which version you are currently running but this can be found in the top left corner of SupCom's main menu.
Once patched you should be good to go. :D|||Game is fully patched, editor now starts up with errors but I cannot open any official SC maps and it opened only 2 maps.
After awhile it would not even open these any more.

[REL - FA] Nautilus

[:1]Map Name : Nautilus
Size : 10 x 20
Players : 4
Download : FA Vault
Image

A remote and lonely atoll in the South Pacific has become the hideaway of a rebellious Commander who insists on calling himself “Commander Nemo”. He has stated that his forces on Nautilus are not aligned to any faction and that he will welcome dissident Commanders from any faction to join his campaign. He has even invited disgruntled Seraphim Commanders to join… this cannot be tolerated.
The basis of his movement is the ridiculous conspiracy theory that “the UEF started war with the Seraphim by secretly attacking their undefended outer home planets. And then when the Seraphim retaliated, it was portrayed as an unprovoked alien invasion. The solution was to form an alliance between Aeon, Cybran and UEF to repel the threat, thus giving UEF implicate command control.
Problem – Reaction – Solution”
…haha what a joke…there is no proof to back these outrageous claims.
Your mission Commander is to quell this uprising immediately and ruthlessly. We must prevent further leakage of our skilled Commanders that are fooled into joining Nemo’s flawed logic sect. A previous mission that was sent to conference with this rogue commander disappeared without trace. This time there will be no negotiations… show no mercy…crush the rebellion by annihilating all resistance. We cannot allow this spring of subversive belief to exist in the New Galactic Order.
Your Team will drop in the undefended western region of the isle, establish a base and proceed east by taking control of both land and sea.
Good Luck Commander.
TeamPlay setup – for quality AI performance.
2 v 2 Sorian Turtle AI
Sorian Turtle AI at top right.
Sorian Turtle AI in bottom right.
Both AIs are same Aeon faction…. Any faction will perform well.
Maximum 1000units - for normal game speed.
2 human players teamed against teamed AI.
Resource sharing ON for both teams.
No pre-built bases.
No civilians
Build restrictions – HQ have deemed that no restrictions are necessary. Although Nukes and Air can be restricted to give a greater focus on Naval.
Select ‘Annihilation’ as the victory condition.
Select ‘Allied Victory’ so that the game ends when all AI are destroyed.
New Condition
Set Naval expansions from unlimited to 6… this is necessary to prevent the AI wasting resources that could have built an experimental, instead building too much navy.
Elite mission …verses 1 Sorian Turtle AI + 1 AIX Sorian Turtle AI
AIX Cheat power set to 1.4 and 1.4(you may need to reduce to 1.2 to enjoy this mission)
Extreme Suicide mission…. Verses 2 AIX Sorian Turtle AI
Order of AI faction difficulty on map:
Aeon… hardest
UEF
Seraphim
Cybran… easier unless AIX

TeamPlay has only one rule:
All allied Commanders that start must finish the game alive…
If any Commander dies or leaves the mission is lost.
A hollow victory…|||Glad to see a new map, I'll download it and give it a try!|||Fun Map ^-^ (Yes, It means I can access the vault now XD)

[SC2] any new maps?

[:1]my friends and I have played the hell out of the revamp_map pack.
I thought i read somewhere that someone was making some more maps? We are eagerly awaiting them!
Preferably 4 to 8 player maps that are very large with few to no choke points.|||You cant make maps for SC2 only mod maps that are already in the game.

Changing Water Color ?

[:1]I got Hazard's Map Editor to work so how do I go about changing the color of water in the game ?
I wanted a green color and copied the setting from the Sludge map onto my new map but it won't turn green.

My map pack

[:1]Anyone who is having trouble, getting to my map pack at FileFront. Just copy and paste the following line in the address, and it will take you to it.

Thygrrr's box of Cool Tools™

[:1]Thygrrr's box of Cool Tools™

This is a spinoff from my "1st map" thread here. Not much to see there, I'm still busy sorting out a good workflow between my tools and the Map Editor.

Milk|||Nice, I will definitely take a look at some of these.|||And one more, http://www.bundysoft.com/L3DT/

If you email the developer and ask nice  he will give you a temp key for the pro version of his terrain renderer.|||Ah, thanks, I've used L3DT in the past for another project. I found it a bit unintuitive, but it has really neat features, like adding volcanic craters. etc. Added to the list!

I think L3DT Standard Edition is pretty good for creating landscapes already, though... the pro version's Indie license is very affordable, though (USD 34 if you make less than USD 250,000 revenue a year).

Terragen comes in at USD 99 if you want to generate terrains bigger than 513x513 (which would be 10kmx10km in SupCom, if I'm not mistaken). You can always scale and re-sharpen your exported heightfields in an image processing software though, depending on your skill.

The Texture Maker Basic License is also quite affordable (USD 29.95) and has most of the every-day usage features in it. http://www.texturemaker.com/help/misc/features.htm|||This thread should be "stickied".

Btw, Terragen was widely used for making TA maps, nice to see someone remembering this tool. A good site for plugins/converters for Terragen: http://www.terrasource.net/|||that picture would of that terrain would make an absouletely sweet map :D

you wouldn't happen to know a good converter for aerial pics to heightmaps|||viperj|||Does anybody know if it is at all possible to import heightmaps into modelling applications like Maya?|||It's definitely possible, though you might need an intermediary plugin or another software like Bryce that can export heightfields as 3D models.

Terragen's animation system interfaces with Maya through a software package called MATG.

Official Site: http://matg.keysnclicks.com/

You can find other Terragen integration tools here:

http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/re ... ntegration|||How can I export raw from terragen? It doesn't seem to have a 16bit raw IBM type :( (only motorola and intel)|||vieuxchat|||Use intel. That's the right byte order.

I wonder why they ever do that. It's either Big Endian (Motorola, PowerPC, many others) or Little Endian (Ibm, Intel, many others). Calling it anything other than Little/Big Endianness is misleading.|||Vielen Dank Thygrrr werd ich mir alles ma anschaun :))|||hmm; you might add WorldMachine to your list. Worldmachine can be obtained from here:

http://www.world-machine.com

The basic edition is free;

there are two backdraws:: the basic edition allows only terrains with 512x512 in Size and it is a rather complex program.

The advantage is that you have more control over your terrain.

http://forum.gaspowered.com/viewtopic.php?t=16190

::edit:: cheap but it should show the point

that screen shows some sort of field test/proof of concept for a 1on1 map; i'm currently working on.

Oh and a decent idea would be to include wether your tools can handle those RAW files created by the map editor, cause it seems that GIMP and Paint.net can't open these.[/url]|||you all have no idea how helpful this thread is!!

thanks!

milk|||http://www.cajomi.de/GeoControl/GeoControl.html

Awesome heightmapping tool. The upcoming version 2 is looking to be kickass. The only problem is that the creator's English isn't the best.|||well i try that demo out; to bad the full version costs 60 bucks|||Very cool stuff Thygrr. I will be checking back when it's map making time again, atleast for me.

I'm looking forward to all the cool collections of textures people will be making and hopefully sharing. I only wonder if the 5 layer limit will ever be bypassed or somehow improved on to make more realistic looking maps.|||I'm considering abusing one of the strata as a light map, actually. I think it's sad we don't have a lightmap layer...|||Thygrrr|||anyone wouldn't to happen to know a a free program which allows to edit raw files with paintshop kinda tools like cut paste move etc|||i dont suppose use can use Vue 5 for supcom? im only learning vue and i know little to nothing about supcom mapping but...|||if you able to export your complete scene as a heightmap, you can. otherwise you could (ab)use vue Esprit to create a mountain or a canyon for your map (from what i remind of the version 2.x, you could export a generated "terrain object" ) and do the rest with something else (PhotoShop)|||Arklon|||Thygrrr
